Outlook 2010 Instructions

Tip: Not sure of your Outlook version? On the Help menu ("Alt" + "H"), click About Microsoft Office Outlook.

Add an email account to your current Outlook 2010 profile

  1. On the File > Info menu, click Add Account.
  2. In the Your Name box, type your name as you want it to appear to other people.
  3. In the E-mail Address box, type the complete e-mail address assigned by Speartek. Make sure to include your user name, the @ symbol, and the domain name (i.e. user@speartek.com).
  4. In the Password and Retype Password boxes, type the case-sensitive password that was assigned by Speartek.
  5. Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types checkbox.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the Internet E-mail radio button, and then click Next. (Additional Information)

Under User Information, do the following:

  1. In the Your Name box, type your full name the way that you want it to appear to other people.
  2. In the E-mail Address box, type the complete e-mail address assigned by Speartek. Make sure to include the user name, the @ symbol, and the domain name (i.e. user@speartek.com).

Under Server Information, do the following:

  1. From the Account Type drop-down menu, select POP3.
  2. In the Incoming mail server box, type the full name of the server provided by Speartek. This is most likely “pop.” followed by your domain name (i.e. pop.speartek.com).
  3. In the Outgoing mail server box, type the full name of the server provided by Speartek. This is most likely “pop.” followed by your domain name (i.e. pop.speartek.com). (Additional Information)

Under Logon Information, do the following:

  1. In the User Name box, type the complete e-mail address assigned by Speartek. Make sure to include the user name, the @ symbol, and the domain name (i.e. user@speartek.com).
  2. In the Password box, type the case-sensitive password provided by Speartek.
  3. Check the Remember password checkbox. (Additional Information)
     
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. On the General tab, under Mail Account, type a name that will help you identify the account that you are configuring.
  6. Click the Outgoing Server tab.

On the Outgoing Server tab, do the following:

  1. Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  2. Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.
  3. Click OK
  4. Click Test Account Settings to verify that your account is working. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you are prompted to supply it or correct it. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Click Next.
    *Note: You will need to click the Close button again if the Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button checkbox was checked.
  7. Click Finish

View or modify settings of an existing email account in Outlook 2010

  1. On the File > Info menu, click the Account Settings button.
  2. Click the Account Settings... option.
  3. Select the account you wish to modify and click Change.

Verify that the User Information settings are correct:

  1. E-mail Address (full email address)

Verify that the Server Information settings are correct:

  1. Incoming mail server (pop.yourdomain.com)
  2. Outgoing mail server (pop.yourdomain.com) (Additional Information)

Verify that the Logon Information settings are correct:

  1. User Name (full email address)
  2. Password (provided by Speartek)
     
  3. Click More Settings.
  4. Click the Outgoing Server tab.

Verify that the Outgoing Server settings are correct:

  1. My outgoing server requires authentication (checked)
  2. Use same settings as my incoming mail server (selected)
  3. Click the Advanced tab

Verify that the Advanced settings are correct:

  1. Incoming Server (Port 110)
  2. The server requires an encrypted connection (unchecked)
  3. Outgoing Server (Port 25 or 366)
  4. Leave a copy of messages on the server (unchecked) (Additional Information)
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Next.
    *Note: You will need to click the Close button again if the Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button checkbox was checked.
  7. Click Finish
